Dryness Defense Techniques : 9 Things You Can Do To get Rid Of Excess Dry Skin

Suffering from dry dehydrated skin? Doctors say dry skin type is the first to show signs of aging. People with dry skin suffer from a lot of skin problems mostly because dry skin behaves normal in summers but reveals the real side during the winter and it becomes almost impossible to control the dryness. So taking good care of your dry skin is absolutely necessary no matter what season it is. Here are a few things you can do for your excess dry skin.


1. Drink lots of water

Drinking water is a must for everyone. It keeps you hydrated, helps relieve dry skin from within. Any external moisturizer will act faster when you hydrate yourself from inside. Drink at least 6 liters of water a day. If traveling or working outside always carry 
a bottle of water in handbag.

 

2. Follow Your Daily CTM Routine

Never skip your cleansing, toning, moisturising with products that are gentle and hydrating. Never use anything that is for oily skin, pore tightening, oil clearing or deep pore cleansing because they will make your already dry skin more dry and dehydrated. It will be better if you use cleansers, toners and moisturisers that are made for dry skin.  

 

3. Gain Knowledge About The Good Ingredients

Always always always read labels and the list of ingredients of a product. Glycerin, shea butter, almond oil, lavender, honey etc. are 
some of the holy grail ingredients for dry skin. These ingredients can change your skin magically. So try to pick those with natural ingredients. On the other hand alcohols, sulphates, preservatives like methyl paraben, propyl paraben can cause more dryness to your already dry skin making you wonder why is your skin not getting better! So picking the right products is the most important step you can take for your skin. 

4. Always use moisturizer

There are loads of products available in the market. No matter what your favorite products are always use a moisturizer that is specifically formulated for dry skin because your skin needs special care. Dry skin lacks moisture. Applying a good moisturizer will work faster than a heavy moisturizer. Make it into a habit of reapplying moisturizer every three or four hours or whenever your skin feels the need of some extra moisture.

 

5. Include Facial Oils In Daily Skin Care 

Our skin produces natural oils to protect itself from dryness. Dry skin lacks sufficient oil production. Therefore we need to allow our skin to get enough oils. Now we all know how amazing facial oils are. Jojoba, grapeseed, olive, almond are great for combination to dry skin. You can use a blend of these oils too or simply get a facial elixir, they are nothing but different oils blended for a specific skin problem. Your thirsty skin will drink the oils. Apply 
daily for better results.

 

6. Never Skip The Sunscreen

Never ever ever skip the sunscreen. Sun rays are harmful for all skin types. Extended sun exposure can cause dehydration, dry patches. Layer a moisturizer below sunscreen to eliminate dryness. Use lotions with low SPF when indoors. 

 

7. Use Serums At night

Serums are nothing but water based moisturizers and other active ingredients. Use a serum that contains hydrating ingredients before applying moisturizer. You can use it at night also followed by night cream. Your thirsty skin will drink this up in no time.

 

8. Apply Night Creams Before Bed

Night creams are excellent for dry skin. They work silently when you are sleeping so that you wake up with gorgeous skin. A good night cream is quite thick which provides enough moisturization for dry skin even when you are sleeping. It helps to reverse the damage caused during the daytime activities. So night creams are blessings for dry skin. 

9. Use Hydrating/Sleeping Masks  

Sleeping masks are a huge trend these days. These are widely used in Korean Skin Care Regime. A sleeping mask is like an extra layer of hydration on top of your skin. You just need to layer it on top of your face as a last step of PM routine and go to sleep. You’ll wake up with super hydrated, supple skin.
